Transition 2025 Key Dates

Throughout the course of the next 2 terms there will be a range of Transition activities for young people to be involved in. 

For any young person who receives information about a confirmed placement request (30 April 2025), then they will be allowed to engage in transition activities after this date. All learners who are required to make a placement request should engage with transition activities for their catchment school to ensure a place is guaranteed in their catchment school, should your placement request be unsuccessful. 

P7 Information Evenings (for Cluster Schools) 

These events will be an opportunity to come along and here about the school and about transition. There will be an opportunity to meet with staff and answer any questions you might have.

Uniform Evening 

This is an opportunity to come along and order your Uniform. There is only one evening in the year when you can do this so it is a perfect time to come along and meet some other parents and make your order. These are usually delivered to the school during the holidays and then can be picked up on the INSET Days in August of the next academic year. Information confirming this will be issued nearer the time.

Primary 7 Two Day Visit 

This will be an opportunity to learn about what classes you will be in, follow your timetable, meet some teachers and learn more about being an S1 at The Waid Academy. Learners will travel to school on the school bus and follow their timetable and be supported by our Seniors and Prefects over the course of the 2 Days. Those with confirmed placement requests will also be able to attend this day. 

Pupil Support Information Evening 

This is an additional Information Evening where you can come along and meet your child's Pupil Support Teacher. This will be the main point of contact for you when your child attends Secondary School. You will be able to meet the Pupil Support Teacher and ask any questions you may have about support available for all learners when at school.
