National 4 Music
National 4 and 5 Music
In S3 you will continue the broad general education experienced in S1 and S2 by undertaking a wide range of tasks in Performing, Composing and Understanding Music. The skills developed in the junior phase run seamlessly into those required for success at National 4 and 5 level.
Performing
You will continue to develop your skills on at least two classroom instruments such as the drum kit or tuned percussion. If you already receive tuition (in school or privately) on an instrument, you will be able to use your time in class to support your progress in this area.
Composing
You will develop your skills in music literacy and creativity by completing composition exercises that will support you to develop original ideas in your work and to produce pieces of music of your own.
Understanding Music
You will study a wide range of genres and styles of music throughout S3 and S4. You will learn to identify specific music concepts that describe the music and its characteristics.
